[14/08/2011] Peak Climbing Meet Location Change! The Peak Climbing Meet is now being held at the Eric Byne Site behind the Robin Hood Inn, see the meets and events page for all the details (just updated!).  www.northleicestermc.org/meetsevents.htm

[14/08/2011] New Meets Added for 2012; Please take a look further down the meets page [www.northleicestermc.org/meetsevents.htm] for a sneak peek at what's planned for next year already!  Mark Brend has kindly offered to organise a Skye meet for May Day Bank Holiday weekend, and Anglesey although a week later, is a day longer next year taking in the Queens Jubilee Bank Holiday, I guess that provides ample fuel for next years theme!  If you are interested in organising an official club meet, please get in touch with either Amy or Steve with your ideas and suggested dates.

Website Renovation Work - Many Thanks for the patience (of most) members and visitors over the last couple of years as the website has slipped into a state of disrepair!  As you can now see, substantial reworking has taken place and as of now the majority of the site is back up and running again, the rest is being updated live, so what is completed is instantly available.  We are still in need of new photos and content for the renovation of older pages, so please send us any contributions via email.

Forthcoming Meets & Events - Following possibly our most successful Anglesey Meet in years with nearly 50 members, guests and visitors attending, Amy Thorpe and Steve Ratcliffe have joined forces in organising a new programme of meets and events for the coming year.  The first of which was a rope and crag rigging workshop held at Markfield "Hill Hole" Quarry on Saturday 2nd July which proved a great success with a good turn out and great feedback.  The next meet will be held this weekend at Willy's Farm Camping Site in Ogwen Valley, Snowdonia, we had a meet there a couple of years ago which was very well regarded by all that went.  See the Meets and Events page for further details, Steve & Amy are working on the next few meets, some of which the dates have also been published on the meets page.

FACEBOOK Development - In addition to the website renovation work that's going on, we are also trying out a Facebook Group (again) and some social plug-ins on our own website, so please feel free to like away, and add photos and posts to group, suggest other members that should be invited to the group etc, its all a bit experimental at the moment, so please don't take it personally if things get changed or deleted by mistake!

NEW Crag Rigging Kit - During the recent crag rigging workshop, the need for some specific rigging equipment was highlighted.  While members are happy to provide and maintain their own climbing ropes, personal equipment and basic rigging items that would normally be found on an average lead rack, it's unreasonable to assume that individuals would also be happy to commit their hard earned cash to the more specialist equipment required for safe rigging of crags for club meets and group sessions.  With this in mind, we have had a kit designed to meet our needs, that will be supplied and presented during the Willy's Farm Meet and follow-up workshop.  The club has funded this equipment for the general use of its membership, however it should be noted that; anyone utilising this rigging kit either on organised meets, or "extra curricular" gatherings must have completed the NLMC Crag Rigging Workshop and kit familiarisation session which is run periodically for the continued development of members skills.  This ensures that not only is the kit safely used, but usage is also monitored and recorded as necessary to ensure continued safety and enjoyment by all.  Adrian Thorpe will be the primary keeper of the kit, as he organises the club Tuesday Night climbing sessions where it will be used most often during the summer, Steve Ratcliffe will perform an annual inspection and service or replace any items as required.
