A traditional site with an expanse of grassy fields over looking Offa’s Dyke, basic facilities include ladies and gent’s toilets, wash basins, washing up sink and water tap. Campfires are welcomed, wood is available both from the farm and the surrounding woodland, which also have good trees for the kids to climb! The cost is £2.50 per person camping, or £7.00 per person for the Caravan Section, which includes electric hook up but please bring your long cables as the sockets are down near the farmhouse.
This will be the next outing for the club tent & BBQ so a good helping of hands on Friday evening to get set up would be great. The site will be perfect for us as we can keep well out of the way of any noise sensitive types and you can have campfires!
Climbing; Shorn Cliff is a stroll along a track from the campsite, with Tintern Quarry also within walking distance. In the immediate local area, the crags of Ban-y-Gor, Wintour’s Leap and Wyndcliff can also be found! The Climbers Club guide details Hang Hill, Bix Slade, Spion Kop, Shake Mantle, Symonds Yat, Ruspidge West and Plump Hill all within a few minutes drive of the campsite.
Directions; M5, M50, A40. A446 south from Monmouth, turn left to St Briavels, then B4228 south. Turn off at Grid Reference 554 085, signed to a quad centre. |
