Meet Leader: Steve "The Cake" Ratcliffe.

Dates: 12-14 September 2008.

Location: Nant Peris/Llanberis, Snowdonia - North Wales.

Accommodation: Various options for the weekend, which will be centred around the villages of Llanberis and Nant Peris in North Wales.  We have booked some places at the Ceunant MC Cottage "T'yn Lon" which is located right next door to the Vaynol Arms Pub where the Dinner is to be held on Saturday Night - the cost here is £8 per person per night. Some of us are members of CMC anyway and can therefore utilise the cottage as they normally would.  For those that want to camp, there are campsites in both Nant Peris (directly opposite the Vaynol Arms - approx £3 per person per night) and in Llanberis (contact me for further details).  There are also numerous bed and breakfasts available, please also contact me for recommendations.

Friday Night - Slide Show Evening: This will take place at the Cake residence in Llanberis, along with various drams, refreshments and snacks from 8pm, slideshow at 9pm (late start on the assumption it will take time for people to get up there and sorted - feel free to pop in when you like!)  There are late buses and taxis back to Nant Peris for those with an appetite for the dram.  The main slideshows will be tickler for next summers trip to the Alps by myself (ha! just re-read this, and the slide show is to be by myself, not the trip to the dolomites next summer!) and a Toubkal Expedition show by Ade.  It would be great if other folk wanted to produce and show other small slideshows on the evening, again please contact and discuss with me the format and equipment required - in short I can show anything you like from a collection of photos on a memory card to PowerPoint or DVD Pictureshow.

Saturday Activities:  There will be an all day outing planned for the adventurous, which is of course top secret due to nature and location, but will involve some easy climbing/scrambling, some dark tunnels (with bats and snakes), some abseiling (into the deep depths of middle earth) and lots of rusty old ladders (with missing rungs and fresh air)!  If you intend to join in with this day out please come prepared with older equipment that you don't mind getting a little wet and grimy... boots, waterproofs, harness and helmet.  Alternatively should this not sound like your cup of tea, there are all sorts of other attractions in and around Llanberis to satisfy a more relaxing day.

The Dinner:  We will have dinner in the Vaynol Arm's "Caban" Restaurant at 7.30pm on Saturday Night 13th September.  Again, there are late busses and taxis available back to Llanberis for those staying there.  The pub have requested that we order main courses in advance please, so please choose from the following and let Ade know ASAP;

• 8oz Sirloin Steak - £11.95
• Lamb Shoulder - £12.95
• Meat Lasagne - £8.45
• Vegetable Lasagne - £8.45
• Meat Curry - £8.45
• Vegetable Curry - £8.45
• Chile Con Carne - £8.45

All of the above are served with Chips or New Potato's and Veg, Salad or Rice - Curries obviously come with Naans etc.  Starters and puddings can be ordered on the night if you would like.  The Lamb Shoulder is one hell of a meal!
