to the North Leicestershire Mountain Club Website!  We are currently quite a small club, but on the whole a very friendly and active bunch!  Current members are primarily based in and around Leicestershire, with others spread all over the UK. 

Our interests are mainly climbing, caving, trekking and hill & mountain walking, although many members regularly take part in a whole selection of other mountain sports, such as mountain biking, skiing or even extreme bog snorkelling.  You can read more about the club on the About Us Page.

We are currently making a concerted effort to build on our membership, so if you are interested in joining, or just coming along for a bit to see what we get up to, you would be most welcome, and should find all the information you need on this site!  Please see the contacts page for details.

New Members for August 2008!  Laura Wadley and her father Derek Wadley have joined NLMC after meeting us on our Atlas Trek out in Morocco.  Lesley Gilbert, who a few members have known for many years, has also joined following a good time with us at Bosworth Water.  We wish all a warm welcome!

Introduction to Expedition Meet saw a good turn out and pretty reasonable weather despite a poor forecast.  A great time was had by all who attended - photos can be seen on the Gallery page.

POSTPONED! New Members Meet in Snowdonia Due to the current trend of dire weather here in Snowdonia, and the unavailability of many people, unfortunately the New Members meet has been postponed.  A later date will be agreed.

Club Dinner Weekend; The Club Dinner will be held in the Vaynol Arms, Nant Peris - Snowdonia on Saturday 4th October 2008.  Accommodation is booked for the whole weekend at T'yn Lon, the Ceunant Cottage right next door to the pub.  Please confirm with Steve (ASAP) if you will be attending and see the meets page for further details.

Arco & The Italian Dolomites; There is now extensive detail regarding this meet to Italy next summer available on the meets page - make sure you follow the more info link as there are several pages.  There has been considerable interest with many members confirming a definite intention to go.  With rising fuel and travel costs in general, it makes the most sense to give this early thought and start making arrangements as soon as possible.  Car sharing for those driving out and collections from the airport for those wishing to fly will cut down on costs, as would making a group booking with the campsite.  Please let me know ASAP if you will be coming!
